Important changes in this release

If you have used an earlier version of TennisAce, please review this section for operational changes. If you are new to TennisAce, you can skip this section.

New tracking system of court fees and prize money

Court fees and prize money were a field in the games file in earlier versions. These fields no longer reside in the games file. Instead, they are part of the income and expenses tracking system. However, these fields are still linked to, and displayed in their associated game record for convenience. For this reason, if a number in either of these two fields does not apply, you should not delete it in the respective field as in previous versions, but delete the related income/expenses record. This can be done by simply clicking the delete icon next to the respective fields.

Calculation of game wins/losses redefined

In earlier versions, game wins or losses were automatically calculated based on the set results you entered. For example, entering 6:1 4:2 would display as a win. However, this does not account for situations where a 3 set game was expected and a player lost due to injury or other reason. Therefore, you must now always manually set the winner by clicking the tennis ball icon.

For example, let's say there are two games associated with one of your partners. You won the first one, but the second one ended at 6:4 4:6 (you ran out of time). In the old version, this would display at 50% wins, because the second one was not won. But because it wasn't lost either, this game is now ignored by the statistic calculation and therefore 100% is displayed.

When you import your records from a previous version, you are given the option of conforming your existing records to the new calculation. It is a good idea to do this for a consistent calculation.

Main menu navigation changed

The button to open the games file has been replaced with a button to open the finance file. To open the games file, you can click on any game related button in the players file, such as a statistics button in the players overview or a game record in a player's history view.

Individual award texts

By popular demand, each player record now has its own winner and loser award text.

Installing TennisAce

TennisAce consists of a number of files that are distributed as a single compressed archive. If you have received an 'unpacked' copy (consisting of single files), it is recommended that you download a fresh copy, because your copy is probably incomplete or has been tampered with. TennisAce does not run on a locked volume, such as a CD ROM. You must copy it to your hard disk or some other writable volume.

Macintosh

  1. Unstuff the archive. A folder called 'TennisAce (version#)' is created on your hard disk. After you have expanded the file and verified operation, you can delete the compressed file to reclaim hard disk space.
  2. Drag the folder to the preferred location on your hard disk. Important: Please make sure that all files remain inside the TennisAce folder. Do not move or remove them independently and do not change any file names, otherwise fatal errors will occur.
  3. Open the folder and double click the TennisAce application icon (in the standalone application version) or TennisAce.fp5 (in the FM datafiles version). Your copy is verified and initialized. Installation is now complete. If any errors are returned during this procedure, your copy is probably damaged. Please make sure you have followed these instructions and try again. If you still have problems, contact technical support.

Windows

  1. Doubleclick the download archive and follow the on-screen instructions to install TennisAce. When installation is complete, you can delete the compressed file to reclaim hard disk space.
  2. If you accepted all defaults during installation, TennisAce is available from the Windown 'Start' menu, along with an internet shortcut to the rootsolutions website and an 'Uninstall' program, if you wish to delete TennisAce. In addition, a desktop shortcut and/or Quick launch icon may be created.
  3. Start the TennisAce application. Your copy is verified and initialized. Installation is now complete. If any errors are returned during this procedure, your copy is probably damaged. Please make sure you have followed these instructions and try again. If you still have problems, contact technical support.
